Emailing from GP & Workflow Emails affected in Older Versions of GP starting October 1st, 2022.

In February 2021, Microsoft announced some changes for turning off Basic Authentication in Exchange Online. They announced the postponing of disabling Basic Auth for protocols in active use by your tenant while continuing to disable Basic Auth for all protocols not being used. The overall scope of the program was also extended to include Exchange Web Services (EWS), Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), POP, IMAP, Remote PowerShell, MAPI, RPC, SMTP AUTH and OAB.

It has now been officially announced by Microsoft that, effective October 1, 2022, they will begin to permanently disable Basic Auth in all tenants, regardless of usage, with the exception of SMTP Auth.

There has been an increase in cases where emails are beginning to fail from within Dynamics GP currently. This is especially true for older versions of GP (18.2 and prior) that do not have Modern Authentication for Dynamics GP. The Microsoft Exchange team is temporarily disabling Basic Authentication as a way to remind current users that changes are coming and need to be adjusted as soon as possible. In many cases this will mean upgrading to version 18.3 or later to fix these issues.
