While Copilot for Microsoft Dynamics 365 may be the first to lift off, Microsoft is already providing details on how it will incorporate AI into its renowned productivity suite, Microsoft 365. Here’s a quick overview of the direction Copilot is headed. We’ll cover these capabilities more extensively in upcoming articles.
Copilot in Teams makes meetings more productive with real-time summaries and action items directly in the context of the conversation. Identify the right people for follow-up activities or automatically schedule a check-in that was mentioned in a meeting. With the newly announced Business Chat, you can utilize Microsoft Graph to organize all relevant data (documents, presentations, email, calendar, notes and contacts) and keep everyone on the same page. Imagine asking Microsoft 365 to “Summarize the chats, emails and documents about the ABC Corporation escalation that happened last night”.
Copilot in Word writes, edits, summarizes, and creates right alongside people as they work. Copilot can do everything from create a first draft from a brief prompt, to rewrite certain sections to make them more concise. Change the tone of a document from casual to professional, all with a natural language request.
Copilot in PowerPoint enables the creation process by turning ideas into a designed presentation through natural language commands. Transform existing documents into a complete deck including speaker notes. Adjust layouts with a simple command. Tell Copilot to “Reformat the content on slide four into three columns, each with a relevant icon at the top” and your presentation just became more visually appealing.
Copilot in Excel helps unlock insights, identify trends, or create professional-looking data visualizations in a fraction of the time. Don’t know how to write the formula to answer your question? That’s OK, just ask Copilot in your own words. For instance, tell Excel to “model how a 4% change in the growth rate for the southwest region would impact my gross margin”, and Copilot will show you the results.
Copilot in Outlook can help manage your inbox to allow more time to actually communicate. Imagine asking Outlook to “summarize the emails I missed while I was out last week and flag any items that require follow-up”. Generate quality responses with a simple prompt and use toggles to adjust the tone and length of your messages.
Copilot in Power Platform will help developers of all skill levels accelerate and streamline development. With Power Apps, we’ve already moved from custom code to low-code, and Copilot will now deliver natural language application authoring. What’s more, you can build those apps with natural language features imbedded in them. Likewise, you’ll be able to build Power Virtual Agents using natural language, accelerating their development, and widening authorship.
