I’m a southern boy, born and raised. At this time of the year, I can’t stop thinking about pecan pie. I wasn’t sure what makes it so delicious, so I asked my aunt, who my belt would agree makes the best pecan pie. Apparently, it has a lot to do with quality ingredients, order, and a good recipe.

What does this have to do with visual resource scheduling? Well, it has a lot of the same components. Your quality ingredients are your employees, order is also important when completing a project, and a good recipe is like a really good roadmap for a project. But none of that matters if you can’t visualize what’s going on.

Schedule Resources just like Microsoft Project in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

Project Managers love Microsoft Project like I love pecan pie, because visual tools simplify the planning process, reducing mistakes upfront and minimizing the risks of poor project design. That’s why we are excited to announce that Gantt chart control with visual scheduling has been added to Velosio’s AXIO for Professional Services solution, built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

Visual resource scheduling within AXIO helps customers plan resources, see where gaps in projects are and how to best remedy them. Customers can optimize resource loads to increase utilization. This is exciting for professional services companies in that it allows companies to schedule like they do in Microsoft Project, but within Microsoft Dynamics 365 – a missing component of the ERP system until now. PMO’s no longer have to choose between costly and complex integration with Microsoft Project, inefficient double entry of project plans, or compromising on planning functionality – AXIO for Professional Services lets you have your cake – or maybe pie – and eat it too!

    Why Use Gantt Charts?

According to MindTools: When you set up a Gantt chart, you need to think through all of the tasks involved in your project. As part of this process, you’ll work out who will be responsible for each task, how long each task will take, and what problems your team may encounter. This detailed thinking helps ensure that the schedule is workable, that the right people are assigned to each task, and that you have workarounds for potential problems before starting the project.

Gantt charts also help you work out practical aspects of a project, such as the minimum time it will take to deliver, and which tasks need to be completed before others can start. Plus, you can use them to identify the critical path – the sequence of tasks that must individually be completed on time if the whole project is to deliver on time.

Finally, you can use them to keep your team and your sponsors informed of progress. Simply update the chart to show schedule changes and their implications or use it to communicate that key tasks have been completed.

Let us set up a demo and show you how AXIO and the visual scheduling tool will help you to consistently deliver projects on-time and within budget. Contact us and we’ll get this scheduled today. Also, here’s a fail-safe recipe for pecan pie – enjoy!

Dark Pecan Pie *from Tea-Time at the Masters

    • 3 eggs, well beaten
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 3/4 cup dark Karo (there’s that quality ingredient!) syrup
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla
    • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
    • 2/3 cups pecan halves
    • 1 9-inch pie shell, unbaked

Combine eggs, sugar, syrup, salt, vanilla, butter and nuts. Mix thoroughly and pour into pie shell. Bake at 400 for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 and bake 35 minutes longer (there’s that order!).
